This is an unusual fossil fish. It is a large Nematonotus from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. The one striking feature of this fish is its long dorsal fin spine. This is natural (over 2 inches long!) and is not artificially lengthened in any way. Very few fish in the fossil record had dorsal fin spines this long. This is a great example of this weird fossil fish.
