This is a spectacular fossil fish. It is a large Diplomystus dentatus from the Eocene of Wyoming. This fish is wonderfully articulated and exhibits incredible detail. The bone structure is beautifully displayed and the fins are intact and easily seen. The natural, brown color of the fish contrasts nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The fish is almost perfectly centered on the huge, rectangular plate of shale. This is a stunning specimen of a large Diplomystus from the Green River Formation.
