Here is a spectacular fossil fish! This is Merluccius errans from the Miocene of Russia. This unusual, ''streamlined'' fish is wonderfully articulated and exhibits fantastic detail. The bone structure is easily seen and the fins are beautifully preserved - the individual fin rays are just superb. No painting or enhancement has been done to this outstanding specimen. The black ''carbonaceous'' color of the fish contrasts well with the gray matrix. The fossil is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a very collectible specimen of this rare fossil fish from Russia. This fish would look great in any museum and should satisfy the most dicriminating collector.
