This is an extremely displayable fossil fish. It is a large Diplomystus poweri from the Sublithographic Limestone quarries of Lebanon. Due to political unrest, specimens from this site are very difficult to obtain. This ''exotic-looking'' fish exhibits excellent detail. The bone structure and fins are wonderfully displayed and the eye socket of the fish is easily seen. The fossil has great, natural red-orange coloration that contrasts beautifully with the light colored matrix. This ''tropical'' fish is well centered on the oval plate of matrix. This is a very fine specimen of a salt-water fish fossil from the Middle East.
