This is a HUGE example of Mioplosus labracoides from the Eocene of Wyoming. This very large predatory fish exhibits very nice bone structure and scale pattern (rare). The orange-brown fossil contrasts beautifully with the cream-colored matrix. The distinct fish is wonderfully showcased on the semi-rectangular plate of shale. This is a freakin' huge specimen (almost a FOOT LONG!) of this uncommon predatory fish from the Green River Shale.
