This is a very rare fossil fish. It is a complete Semionotus tenuiceps from Massachusetts. This specimen was recently acquired from the Richard Busch Collection. Busch was the Preparator/Asst. Curator at the North Museum in Lancaster, PA from 1965-1992. Triassic fossil fish are extremely rare in the US. This specimen is quite large and has very fine scale detail preserved. The scales are mostly articulated and easily seen, and the fins and tail are also intact. This is a good example of this very unusual fossil fish from Massachusetts.
