This is a very interesting plate of fossil fish from the Eocene of Wyoming. There are four very detailed Knightia eocaena on the plate. All of the fish exhibit very nice preservation. The bone structures are well displayed and the fins and tails are easily seen. The orangish-brown color of the fish is natural, and the contrast with the cream-colored matrix is outstanding. The fish are naturally positioned on the semi-rectangular plate of shale - two of them are crossed over one another, which is pretty cool! This is a very fine display plate of four fossil fish from the Green River Formation.
