This is a very cool fossil fish. It is a very fine Knightia from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. The large fossil fish (almost five inches long!) is very well preserved and exhibits wonderful detail. The eye socket is easily seen, the fins are very defined, and the tail is quite evident. This fish has nice, dark coloration that contrasts beautifully with the cream-colored rock. This is a very nice, large example of a fossil Knightia eocaena fish from the Eocene.
