This is a classic fossil fish. It is a complete Knightia eocaena from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This fine fossil fish is well preserved and exhibits fine detail. The eye socket is easily seen, and the fins and tail are beautifully displayed. The orange-colored fish contrasts wonderfully with the buff-colored matrix plate. The fossil herring is well showcased on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a very nice example of Knightia eocaena from the famous Fossil Lake Deposits of Wyoming.
