This is a very, very nice fossil fish. It is a killer Knightia eocaena from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. The large fish (well over five inches long!) is extremely well preserved and exhibits wonderful detail. The eye socket is easily seen, the fins are very defined, and the tail is quite evident. This fish has nice, dark coloration and contrasts nicely with the cream-colored rock. The fossil is well showcased on the large, rectangular matrix plate. This is a beautiful example of a large fossil fish from the Eocene.
