Here is a special specimen of a fossil fish from the Eocene of Wyoming. This is a split pair Knightia eocaena from the Green River Formation. This specimen exhibits wonderful detail. The eye socket is clearly defined, the scale pattern is superb, and the fins are quite detailed. The fish has excellent, natural brown color, which contrasts beautifully with the cream-colored matrix. The fossil is well displayed on both plates of shale. This is a highly collectible part/counterpart specimen of this classic fossil fish.
