Here is a very aesthetic plate of fossils from the Cretaceous layers of Lebanon. This slab contains both an unusual fish and a shrimp. The large fish is a nice example of Scombroclupaea gaudry. This beautifully arched fish exhibits fine detail. The bone structure is clearly defined and the fins are easily seen. Above the fish is a very detailed specimen of Carpopenaeus callirostris. This shrimp displays the segmented carapace and legs in wonderful fashion. The fossils have great color and contrast and are well positioned on the hand-chipped plate of sublithographic limestone that also contains a complete hatchling fish on the reverse side. This is a unique specimen of two different marine organisms fossilized together.
