This is a very collectible fossil fish. It is a fabulous Mioplosus labracoides from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This predatory type is very sought-after because of its bold look and teeth preserved in the mouth. This fossil was extracted under a microscope to reveal the extremely fine detail. This beautiful specimen is extremely large (WELL OVER A FOOT LONG!) and has incredible detail preserved, especially the head and backbone. And the full array of teeth in the mouth are very easily seen. Although the plate has been repaired, the high quality of the fish more than makes up for it. This is a very large, impressive predatory fossil fish that is even more impressive in person!
