Here is a cool plate of fossil fish from the Eocene of Wyoming. There are two examples of Knightia eocaena on this slab. One fossil fish is complete and beautifully articulated. The bone structure is well defined and the fins are wonderfully displayed. The eye socket is easily seen and even the scale pattern of the fish is preserved. The other fish is a pertial, but is also well preserved. The brown fish contrast nicely with the light-colored, textured matrix. The fish are nicely presented on the large slab of shale. This is a fine display plate of fossil herring from the Green River Shale.
