This is a fabulous example of juvenile Mioplosus labracoides from the Eocene of Wyoming. This uncommon fish exhibits distinct bone structure - the backbone, skull, and tail are very easily seen. The brown fossil contrasts nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The complete fish is wonderfully showcased on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a very nice specimen of this baby predatory fish from the Green River Shale.
