This is a very nice fossil fish. It is a fine Phareodus testis from the Eocene of Wyoming. This type of fish has a very wide body and two large fins near the tail. This fish is well preserved and exhibits fine detail. The bone structure is clearly defined, and the large teeth are wonderfully displayed. The fish has nice, natural color and contrast and is well centered on the large, rectangular plate of shale. This is an extremely affordable example of this predatory fish from the Green River Formation.
