This is a huge example of Mioplosus labracoides from the Eocene of Wyoming. This very large fish exhibits nice bone structure, and the orange-brown fossil contrasts nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The complete fish is nicely showcased on the rectangular plate of shale that also conrains a nice, small Knightia fish. This is a very large specimen (OVER 13 inches long!) of this uncommon predatory fish from the Green River Shale.
