This is a beautiful specimen of Priscacara serrata from the Eocene of Wyoming. The very large fossil fish has natural orange color that contrasts beautifully with the cream-colored matrix. The fish has great bone structure and extremely fine fin detail - the dorasl fin is spectacular, and even the tail is fully defined. The fish is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular plate of matrix that has been professionally framed for optimal display. But the coolest feature of this fossil is that a Knightia fish is laying piggy-back on top of the Priscacara! This is a fabulous framed example of this classic fossil fish, actually a double-decker fossil fish from the Green River Formation.
