Here is a nice specimen of an unusual fossil fish. This is juvenile Priscacara serrata from the Green River Formation of Utah. Only a handful of these baby fish are found each year. This fish is well preserved and exhibits fine detail. The bone structure is clearly defined, and the fins are easily seen. The fish has great orangish-brown color and contrasts nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The fossil is well centered on the semi-rectangular plate of shale. This is a rare juvenile specimen of this uncommon fish from the Eocene.
