This is a very nice association specimen of a fish and insect. The fish is Lycoptera davidi and the insect is a Beetle from the Jurassic of China. This fossil fish has very good detail - the bone structure of the fish is clearly defined. The natural, dark-brown color of the fossil contrasts beautifully with the tannish-grey matrix. The fish has great form and is well presented on the large, natural plate of shale that also contains a large, orange Beetle. This is a very fine example of a fossil fish and insect from the time of the dinosaurs.
