This is a very large example of Mioplosus labracoides from the Eocene of Wyoming. This very long fish exhibits nice bone structure, and the orange-brown fossil contrasts nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The complete fish is beautifully showcased on the semi-oval plate of shale that also contains a complete Knightia fish. This is a very large specimen (OVER TEN inches!) of this uncommon predatory fish from the Green River Shale.
