This is a very distinct fossil fish. It is a fine Diplomystus from Kemmerer, Wyoming. This fossil was found in the classic ''18 Inch Layer'', a layer where the fossils have good detail and great dark color. The fossils need to be extracted under a microscope to reveal all the detail. This fish specimen displays great detail - the bones are very easily seen. And the fish is well centered on the squared plate of shale that also contains two fish coprolites (poops)! This is an excellent Diplomystus dentatus from the ''18 Inch Layer'' of the Green River Formation.
