This is a very fine example of Mioplosus labracoides from the Eocene of Wyoming. This highly detailed fish exhibits wonderful bone structure - the distinct backbone is easily seen, and even the teeth are preserved! The orange-brown fossil contrasts nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The complete fish is beautifully showcased on the semi-oval plate of shale. This is a large specimen (over TEN inches!) of this uncommon predatory fish from the Green River Shale.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally. A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
