Here is a beautifully-preserved fossil fish. It is a colorful Phareodus testis from the Eocene of Wyoming. This specimen exhibits marvelous detail. The bone structure is clearly defined, and the fins are wonderfully displayed. This predatory fish had large teeth for feeding, and many sharply-pointed teeth can be seen seen on this specimen, which is quite unusual. The fish has excellent, natural, orangish-brown color and contrasts well with the cream-colored matrix. The fish is well showcased on the rectangular plate of shale that has been professionally framed for optimal display.. This is a very displayable example of this carniverous fish from the Fossil Lake Deposits of Wyoming.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally. A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
