This is a displayable fossil fish. It is a fine Phareodus testis from the Eocene of Wyoming. This type of fish has a very wide body and two large fins near the tail. This fish is well preserved and exhibits outstanding detail. The bone structure is clearly defined, and the fins are wonderfully displayed. Even the scale pattern is somewhat intact, which is quite unusual. The sharply-pointed teeth in the open mouth are just awesome - they are easily seen with the naked eye! The fish has excellent, natural color and contrast and is well centered on the large, rectangular plate of shale. This is an extremely nice example of this predatory fish from the Green River Formation.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
