Here is a very nice specimen of an unusual fossil fish. This is a fine Amphiplaga bracyptera from the Green River Formation of Utah. Only a handful of these fish are found each year. This fish is well preserved and exhibits fine detail. The bone structure is clearly defined, and the fins and tail are easily seen. The fish has great orangish-brown color and contrasts nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The fossil is well presented on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a very good specimen of this uncommon fish from the Eocene.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
