This is an excellent specimen of a juvenile Diplomystus dentatus from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This fish exhibits great detail - the bone structure of the fish is beautifully displayed, and the fins and tail are easily seen. The eye socket is clearly defined, and the upturned mouth adds a certain charm. The NATURAL, orange-brown color of the fish contrasts wonderfully with the light-colored matrix. The fossil herring is well showcased on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a very fine juvenile fossil fish from Wyoming.
