This is an excellent fossil fish. It is a very detailed Phareodus testis from the Eocene of Wyoming. This type of fish has a very wide body and two large fins near the tail. This fish is beautifully preserved and exhibits outstanding detail. The bone structure is clearly defined, and the fins are wonderfully displayed. Even the scale pattern is partially intact, which is unusual. The sharply-pointed teeth in the open mouth are just awesome - they are easily seen with the naked eye! The fish has excellent natural color and contrast and is wonderfully showcased on the large plate of shale. And the fossil has been professionally framed for optimal display. This is a very aesthetic and collectible example of this predatory fish from Wyoming.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
