This is an extraordinary fossil fish. It is an extremely displayable Phareodus testis from the Eocene of Wyoming. This type of fish has a very wide body and two large fins near the tail. This fish is beautifully preserved and exhibits outstanding detail. The bone structure is clearly defined, and the fins are wonderfully displayed. Even the scale pattern is intact, which is unusual. The sharply-pointed teeth in the mouth are even preserved. The fish has excellent, natural color and contrast and is almost perfectly centered on the large plate of shale. This is a very detailed example of this predatory fish from the Eocene.
