Here is a very nice specimen of Knightia eocaena from the Green River Formation. There are two examples of Knightia on this plate. Both fish exhibit excellent detail. The bone structure is clearly defined, and the tails are easily seen. The fish are different sizes - a nice contrast. The orangish-brown fish display beautifully on the cream-colored matrix. The fish are nicely showcased on the somewhat rectangular plate of shale. This is a very fine double specimen of fossil herring from the Eocene of Wyoming.
