This is an excellent fossil fish. It is a complete Knightia eocaena from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This classic fossil fish is extremely well preserved and exhibits great detail. The eye socket is easily seen, and the dorsal fin and tail are beautifully displayed. The dark-colored fish contrasts wonderfully with the cream-colored matrix. The fossil herring is well centered on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a very fine example of Knightia eocaena from the famous Fossil Lake Deposits of Wyoming.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally. A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
