Here is a highly uncommon fish. This is an Eohiodon falcatus from the Eocene of Wyoming. This type is called a "mooneye", and is a predatory fish. This specimen displays well, and even has MANY of the teeth preserved and well exposed! The orange coloration of the fish contrasts beautifully with the cream-colored matrix. The fossil is well showcased on the unbroken plate of shale. This is a very displayable example of this hard-to-find, predatory fossil fish.
