This is a distinct specimen of a juvenile Diplomystus dentatus from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This fish is colorful and exhibits great detail. The bone structure of the fish is beautifully displayed, and the fins and tail are easily seen. The eye socket is clearly defined, and the open mouth adds a certain charm. The orange color of the fish contrasts wonderfully with the light-colored matrix. The tiny fossil herring is well showcased on the large plate of shale. This is a very detailed juvenile fish from Wyoming.
