This is a good example of juvenile Mioplosus labracoides from the Eocene of Wyoming. This uncommon fish exhibits distinct bone structure - the backbone and ribs are very easily seen. The brown fossil contrasts nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The complete fish is wonderfully showcased on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a nice specimen of this predatory fish from the Green River Shale.
