Here is a nice, large fossil fish. This is Diplomystus dentatus from the Eocene of Wyoming. This fossil herring is complete and preserves fine detail. The bone structure of the fish is wonderfully defined. The eye socket of the fish is easily seen, and the tail is nicely displayed. The dark brown color of the fish contrasts beautifully with the cream-colored matrix. The fossil is well displayed on the large, rectangular plate of shale. This is a very fine example of Diplomystus from the Green River Formation.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally. A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
