This is a very nice fossil fish. It is a large Knightia from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. The fossil fish is extremely well preserved and exhibits wonderful detail. The eye socket is easily seen, the fins are very defined, and the tail is quite evident. This fish has natural dark coloration and contrasts nicely with the cream-colored rock. The fossil is well centered on the semi-rectangular matrix plate. This is a very detailed example of a fossil herring from the Eocene.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally. A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
