Here is a very nice fossil fish. This is Diplomystus dentatus from the Eocene of Wyoming. This fossil herring is complete and beautifully preserved. The bone structure of the fish is wonderfully defined, the eye socket of the fish is easily seen, and the fins and tail are nicely displayed. The dark brown color of the fish contrasts strikingly with the cream-colored matrix. The fossil is well showcased on the large, natural plate of shale. This is a very detailed example of Diplomystus from the Green River Formation.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally. A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
