This is a very striking fossil fish. It is a complete Diplomystus poweri from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. Due to political unrest, specimens from this site are becoming very difficult to obtain. This ''exotic-looking'' fish exhibits great detail. The bone structure and fins are wonderfully displayed, and the eye socket of the wide-bodied fish is clearly defined. The fossil has stunning, reddish-orange coloration that contrasts beautifully with the light-colored matrix. The fish is well showcased on the rectangular plate of sublithographic limestone. This is an excellent display specimen of this Cretaceous tropical fish.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
