This is a distinct specimen of Diplomystus dentatus from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This fish is colorful and exhibits great detail. The bone structure of the fish is beautifully displayed, and the fins and tail are easily seen. The eye socket is clearly defined, and the upturned mouth adds a certain charm. The brown color of the fish contrasts wonderfully with the light-colored matrix. The fossil herring is well showcased on the rectangular plate of shale that also has a fossil poop on the upper left of the plate. This is a fine fossil fish from Wyoming.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally. A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
