Here is an interesting plate of fish from the Eocene of Wyoming. There are two different types of fish on the plate. On the left side of the slab is a nice example of Diplomystus dentatus. This fossil herring has great bone structure preserved. A detailed specimen of Knightia eocaena is present on the right side of the plate. Both dark brown fish contrast nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The fish are well positioned on the natural-edged plate of shale. This is a very displayable example of two different fish from the Fossil Lake deposits.
