This is a very nice specimen of Lycoptera sp. from the Jurassic of China. This fossil fish has very good detail. The bone structure of the fish is clearly defined, and the large eye and open mouth of the fish are easily seen. The dark-brown color of the fossil contrasts beautifully with the tannish-grey matrix. The fish is well presented on the large, natural plate of shale. This is a fine example of a fossil fish from the time of the dinosaurs.
