This is simply a beautiful fossil fish. It is a fabulous Paleobalistum fusella from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. This spectacular specimen came to us from a major fossil fish collection. Fossils from this area are very hard to obtain because of years of political unrest. This fish is in the same family as the classic Pycnodont fish, Gyrodus, but is MUCH rarer. This fish is complete and has extremely fine detail preserved. The colorful fish is nicely showcased on the squared limestone plate. This is an incredible example of one of the rarer and more exotic fossil fish from this locality.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
