This is a very nice fossil fish. It is a large Knightia from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. The fossil fish is extremely well preserved and exhibits wonderful detail. The eye socket is easily seen, the fins and tail are well defined, and the backbone is quite evident. This fish has natural dark coloration and contrasts beautifully with the cream-colored rock. The fossil is well showcased on the semi-rectangular matrix plate. This is an excellent example of a fossil fish from the Eocene.
