Here is a very nice fossil fish. This is a wonderful specimen of Armigatus brevissimus from the Middle Cretaceous of Lebanon. Due to political unrest, fossils from this site are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. This distinct fish exhibits excellent detail. The scale pattern is well defined, and the fins and tail are beautifully displayed. The eye socket of the fish is easily seen. The fossil has great orange color and superb contrast with the light colored matrix. The fish is well positioned on the semi-rectangular plate of sublithographic limestone that also contains two other fish. This is a very detailed example of this Cretaceous fish from Lebanon.
