This is a very unusual fish fossil. It is a complete Knightia eocaena and coprolite (fossil poop) from the Eocene of Wyoming. This fish is nicely articulated, well preserved, and exhibits excellent detail. The bone structure of the fish is well displayed, and the eye socket is easily seen. The coprolite is from a very large fish or alligator and is as large as the fish! The natural, orangish-brown color of the fossils contrasts wonderfully with the cream-colored matrix. The fossils are well showcased on the semi-squared plate of shale. This is a very rare specimen of a fossil herring and a large poop from the Green River Formation.
