This is a very striking fossil fish. It is a complete Aipichthys formosus from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. Due to political unrest, specimens from this site are becoming very difficult to obtain. This exotic-looking fish exhibits great detail. The bone structure and fins are wonderfully displayed, and the eye socket of the wide-bodied fish is clearly defined. The fossil has stunning, orange coloration that contrasts beautifully with the light-colored matrix. The fish is well centered on the rectangular plate of sublithographic limestone. This is an excellent specimen of this uncommon Cretaceous tropical fish.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
