This is a very rare exotic fossil fish. It is a complete Halec sp. from the sublithographic limestone of Lebanon. Fossils from this area are very hard to obtain because of years of political unrest. This specimen is HUGE (over nine inches long!) has a distinct skin pattern preserved on the entire body. The fish has very fine detail, and the large eye socket and MANY teeth are easily seen. The fish has great dark color, which contrasts beautifully with the rectangular plate of limestone matrix. This is an excellent example of this strange fossil fish from the Cretaceous coral reefs.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
