This is a very striking fossil fish. It is a complete Diplomystus sp. from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. Due to political unrest, specimens from this site are becoming very difficult to obtain. This ''exotic-looking'' fish exhibits great detail. The bone structure and fins are wonderfully displayed, and the eye socket of the wide-bodied fish is clearly defined. The fossil has stunning, orange coloration that contrasts beautifully with the light-colored matrix. The large fish is well presented on the rectangular plate of sublithographic limestone. This is an excellent specimen of this Cretaceous tropical fish.
