This is an excellent specimen of Jianghanicthys hubeiensis from the Eocene of China. This fish is large and exhibits great detail. The bone structure is clearly defined, the scale pattern is present, and the fins and tail are easily seen. The dark brown color of the fish contrasts well with the light-colored matrix. The fish is wonderfully centered on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a beautiful example of a complete Jianghanicthys from the Eocene of China.
