This is an unusual fossil fish. It is a beautiful Sedenhorstia sp. from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. Due to political unrest, fossils from this site are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. This elongate specimen is complete and exhibits outstanding detail. The bone structure is easily seen, and the fins are quite distinct. The tail of the fish is clearly defined. The natural, brownish-orange color of the fish is very striking and contrasts wonderfully with the light-colored matrix. The fish is well displayed on the large, semi-rectangular plate of sublithographic limestone. This is a fine example of this extinct fish from the Cretaceous.
